With heavy hearts and deep gratitude, we share the passing of Faustino Perez on May 5, 2025 — a man whose life left an unforgettable mark on all who knew him.

Faustino was more than a founder of El Ranchero Mexican Restaurant — he was its soul. He was a mentor, a father, a brother, a grandfather, a cousin, and a friend whose strength and kindness helped shape not just our restaurant, but the lives and hearts of everyone who walked through our doors.

Years ago, Faustino left Oregon and came to Houston with a dream in his heart — to build something real and lasting with his brother Martin and cousin Efrain. What they built together wasn’t just a restaurant — it was a home. A place filled with warmth, tradition, and family — values that Faustino carried in everything he did.

If you ever met him, you remember it: the firm handshake, the gentle smile, the way he looked you in the eye and made you feel like you mattered. He gave generously, not just of his time, but of his spirit. He listened. He served. He made everyone feel welcome — not as customers, but as family.

A devout Catholic and a man of deep integrity, Faustino lived by quiet example. He believed in hard work, faith, humility, and lifting others up. Whether he was behind the scenes in the kitchen or shaking hands in the dining room, his presence made people feel safe, seen, and loved.

Faustino didn’t just build a business — he built a legacy. One rooted in honor, humility, and heart. That legacy will live on through the recipes he helped perfect, the traditions he protected, and the values he instilled in all of us.

We ask that you keep the Perez family in your thoughts and prayers during this time of loss.

Con el corazón lleno de tristeza, pero también con un profundo agradecimiento, compartimos el fallecimiento de Don Faustino Pérez el día 5 de mayo de 2025 — un hombre que dejó huella en todos los que tuvimos el privilegio de conocerlo.

Don Faustino no fue solo uno de los fundadores de El Ranchero Mexican Restaurant — fue su alma. Fue mentor, padre, hermano, abuelo, primo y amigo. Su ejemplo, su entrega y su corazón formaron no solo un negocio, sino una verdadera familia dentro y fuera del restaurante.

Hace años, dejó Oregón para venir a Houston con un sueño: levantar algo con sentido, junto a su hermano Martín y su primo Efraín. Lo que construyeron no fue solo un restaurante… fue un hogar. Un espacio lleno de cariño, sabor, y tradición — todo lo que Don Faustino representaba.

Quienes lo conocieron lo recordarán por su apretón de manos firme, su mirada sincera, y esa sonrisa que reconfortaba el alma. Siempre tenía una palabra amable, una mano extendida, y el tiempo para escuchar. No trataba a nadie como cliente… todos éramos familia para él.

Hombre de fe católica, sencillo y trabajador, vivió con humildad, entrega y una generosidad que pocas veces se ve. Predicaba con el ejemplo: sirviendo, apoyando, y dando amor en cada gesto.

Don Faustino no solo nos dejó recetas o recuerdos — nos dejó una herencia de valores, amor y unión. Su legado vive en cada platillo servido, en cada costumbre que seguimos, y en cada abrazo que damos dentro de este lugar que él ayudó a levantar con tanto esfuerzo.

Pedimos a toda la comunidad que mantenga a la familia Pérez en sus oraciones durante este momento tan difícil.
