Torchy's Tacos, a Mexican and fast food restaurant located on Crawford Street near Minute Maid Park, had quite the interesting start. Founder Mike Rypka left his executive chef position to pursue his passion for creating excellent food and invested everything he had into Torchy's Tacos. With an experimental menu ready to go but no customers in sight, Rypka took to his little red Vespa and started handing out samples. Word quickly spread about the delicious tacos, and soon people were flocking to the trailer. Torchy's Tacos became a popular spot for locals and visitors alike who praised the wide range of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. Unfortunately, this restaurant has been permanently closed.
