We just spoke with Shane. The recovery cost is expected to be OVER $30,000 minimum. Many of you have asked how you can help Shane Rilat, the owner of the Buccaneer shrimp boat after the boat went hard aground on Bolivar Beach.

The businesses located at Historic Pier 19 would like to respectfully request that our area be left as it is. The addition of a boardwalk in this location would interfere with the way our fishing vessels operate and could create an unsafe environment for pedestrians.
We are also concerned about the proposal to add new green space in the area currently used by party boats to park their customers. Removing this parking would negatively impact these businesses and the customers who rely on convenient access to the boats.
There is already an existing green space next to Katie’s Seafood that is rarely utilized, so we question the need to create another at the expense of working waterfront businesses.
This historic working waterfront is not something that needs to be “fixed.” It represents the livelihoods of the people who work here every day. Despite the many challenges and difficult events our community has faced in recent years, these businesses have continued to operate and serve the community.
If you would like to support the preservation of this historic working area, please contact our District 3 representative, Bob Brown, and let him know that Pier 19 should remain a historic working waterfront.

To get to Wharf Road in Galveston, there are a few different options depending on how you're planning to travel:
Public Transport:
If you're using public transport, the nearest bus stop is located at 19th Street and Harborside Drive. From there, it's about a 15-20 minute walk down Harborside Drive to get to Wharf Road.
Driving/Parking:
If you're driving, you can take Interstate 45 towards Galveston and exit at Exit 1A for Harborside Drive. From there, turn left onto Harborside Drive and continue for about 4 miles until you reach Wharf Road. There is limited street parking available on Wharf Road and nearby streets.
Alternatively, you can park in the nearby public parking lots (such as the one located at 2100 Harborside Drive) and then walk about 5-10 minutes to get to Wharf Road.

Katie's Seafood House also offers a Happy Hour from 2pm-7pm Monday-Friday where you can enjoy great food, drinks, and staff. And during the holiday season, they extend their Happy Hour from 12pm-7pm for Christmas and holiday parties.
Lastly, if you're lucky enough to visit when the Battleship Texas docks at Pier 21 around 4 pm, you can enjoy some great pictures along with your fresh seafood on their patio.
