As we celebrate this holiday season, our hearts are filled with gratitude for the incredible Heights community. For over 10 years, EQ Heights has been more than a coffee shop—it’s been a home, a gathering space, and a place where connections and memories have flourished.

While this chapter at our beloved location comes to a close, we want to savor these final moments together. Let’s celebrate, reminisce, and create a few more special memories before we say goodbye.

We hope you’ll join us during our holiday hours and for our final events as we cherish this incredible journey with all of you. Your support, laughter, and kindness have meant the world to us.

To Our Beloved Heights Community,
It is with heavy hearts that we share that the building occupied by EQ Heights has been transferred to new occupants, and EQ will unfortunately be closing our doors. After 10 wonderful years serving this vibrant community, this chapter of EQ Heights at 1030 Heights Blvd. will come to an end on December 29, 2024.
Along with his tremendous staff of dedicated employees, Kevin Blasini, the founder of EQ Heights, have poured their heart and soul into creating a space that fosters connection, creativity, and comfort for all who walk through our doors. He worked tirelessly to find a solution to remain in business at this location, but despite his efforts, the finalization of the disposition of the property has made it impossible for us to stay.
We are deeply saddened by this turn of events, but we remain hopeful. While we don’t yet have a definitive plan for relocating operations, we are exploring options. The spirit of EQ Heights isn’t tied to a building—it’s in the friendships, the shared stories, the laughter, and the community we’ve built together.
For nearly a decade, you’ve supported us, celebrated with us, and allowed us to be part of your lives. We are profoundly grateful to each of you who made EQ Heights more than a coffee shop—it became a cornerstone of the Houston Heights community.
This isn’t goodbye; it’s a hopeful pause. We will stay strong, together, as a community, and we look forward to reuniting in the future. Please stay connected with us as we navigate what’s next. Your continued support means everything to us.
Our intention is to continue through our expected closing date on a business as usual basis and end on a high note with a Going Away Social on the evening of the 29th. Stay tuned for more info!

Today is a day to celebrate and be grateful for the opportunity to participate in the world’s greatest Democracy. November is the month of giving thanks so EQ gives thanks to friends and customers who have joined us on this journey of making community in the Heights for nearly a decade.

Flamenco Singer featured this weekend, October 26th 🎶

PATRICIA ORTEGA, a multifaceted talent as a vocalist, composer, educator, and healer, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Northeastern Illinois University. With Mexican/Cuban musical roots, she has graced various iconic stages nationwide and has contributed her talents to diverse projects from the Lyric Opera Children’s Choir to the Chicago House Music Scene. Working across genres—Flamenco, Cuban, Latin Jazz, Mexican, R&B, Rock, Soul, and folk—Patricia seamlessly blends influences in her compositions. Her solo journey and extensive collaboration with Las Guitarras de España resulted in four albums, showcasing her skills in co-writing, arranging, and producing. 

Her artistic journey includes national tours with the Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Company, the Un Debel Flamenco Company in Houston, and collaborations with clients and organizations across the country. As the co-founder of the Urban Flamenco Arts Project, she utilized flamenco for mentoring at-risk youth through the Afterschool Matters program, demonstrating her commitment to community impact.

In The Heights, we’re committed to keeping it green. From compostable packaging to innovative ways of reducing waste, we take extra steps to ensure our footprint is as light as possible. It’s not just about brewing great coffee; it’s about doing what suits our community and the planet. After all, every little choice makes a big difference, and we’re proud to play our part—one cup at a time. In partnership with our customers we hope to make the right choices for the planet. For example, we use strawless sipper PET plastic cups and lids for our cold drinks that while they cost more, they result in a more sustainable environmental impact and removes the need for a straw.

If you really must have a straw, our fully compostable straw made from expended coffee grinds demonstrates an eco lifecycle at work at EQ!
