*BLACK HISTORY MOMENTS*
This is my SISTER-N-LAW❤️❤️
💛❤💚As Pearland ISD continues to celebrate Black History Month, we are highlighting our staff and who the most influential African American in their life was.
This week, we spotlight Commander Rosalind Brooks (ret), JROTC Coordinator at Glenda Dawson High School.
"My Great Grandmother, Abbie Crumm Davis, was a great influence in my life. My Great Grandmother was born in 1889, graduated from Selma University on May 25, 1910 and lived to the amazing age of 112. She died in 2001 shortly after 911 having been born to a former slave who managed to send all 4 of his daughters to college in the early 1900’s. She managed a farm, owned property, taught school and outlived 2 husbands, her only son (my grandfather), her grandson, and her great grandson. In her 80's when we were little she would ride a 3 wheel bike to the store and carry her groceries in the back basket. Her college diploma hangs on my wall as a testimony to God’s faithfulness…on the 78th anniversary of her college graduation, I would graduate from the Naval Academy… May 25, 1988. One of the women in my life that epitomized strength and character, her life was an amazing example of a life submitted to God's purpose and subsequent blessing. The scripture, Psalm 91:14-16 epitomized how she lived her life and the incredible example she set for me."
