This is the story of Dave, who, while attending his company's annual "Black Tie & Brews" gala, realized he had overlooked one crucial detail of a four-hour open bar: a concrete dinner plan.
Desperate to avoid the dreaded "champagne flu" and realizing the hors d'oeuvres were entirely composed of garnished cucumber slices, Dave hatched a daring scheme. He ordered a full, premium pepperoni pizza with a pint of craft pale ale. When the food arrived, he realized the impossibility of eating it discreetly on the dance floor.
So, he executed a classic "pizza extraction." Cradling the warm wooden paddle like a newborn and balancing the pint with the grace of an acrobat, Dave made a break for the quietest room in the venue: the executive men's room. He secured the largest stall, creating a private pop-up restaurant right there on the tiled floor.
The "VIP lounge" was perfectly suited for his needs—the acoustics were surprisingly good, and there was a lock. However, there was one design flaw: the significant gap at the bottom of the stall.
Just as Dave settled in, happily dipping a crust into the accompanying garlic butter, the gala’s keynote speaker—a very serious man who had given a lecture on "Optimizing Synergy"—entered the stall next door. He looked down, and through the gap, his eyes met the absolute peak of Dave's synergistic optimizations. For a long, silent moment, Dave could only offer a weak thumbs-up from his awkward position.
He never finished that pint.
