To get to the soul food restaurant and new American restaurant in Houston by public transport, you can take the METRORail Red Line to Wheeler Station, which is a 5-minute walk away. Alternatively, you can take bus #52 or #87 to Wheeler St @ Hutchins St stop and walk for about 3 minutes to reach the restaurants.
If driving, you can head east on I-69 and exit at Elgin Street/Spur 527. Continue onto Brazos St, then make a left turn onto Tuam St. Turn right onto Hutchins St and you will find parking options nearby.
For the American restaurant in Houston, taking the METROBus route #32 or #56 will drop you off at San Felipe St @ Tanglewood Blvd stop after which it's a 1-minute walk to reach the restaurant. Driving-wise, head west on San Felipe St towards S Gessner Rd, make a U-turn at Tanglewood Blvd and park near the restaurant based on availability of spots.
