Please stop in today at MOD and join us in support and awareness of the amazing work the United Way and United Way of Galveston does in support of the 2-1-1 Help Line, for those in our community in need!
Today we got ready for 2-1-1 Day the Galveston way.
Ahead of tomorrow’s 2-1-1 Day, United Way of Galveston partnered with MOD Coffeehouse to help raise awareness of 2-1-1, the free, confidential hotline that connects people to food, housing, health care, and other essential services.
This afternoon, MOD Coffeehouse owner Chris Homer, along with managers Asia and Meli, opened their space, set up a station right in the middle of the coffee shop, and jumped in alongside volunteers to help place 2-1-1 stickers on coffee sleeves and cups. A simple idea, made possible by a generous local partner.
Several United Way of Galveston board members and family members stopped by to lend a hand, helping prepare sleeves and cups that will be used throughout the day tomorrow.
Tomorrow, MOD Coffeehouse will use those sleeves and cups for every beverage served, helping spark hundreds of everyday reminders that help is just a call or text away.
We are grateful to MOD Coffeehouse for believing in practical, community-centered ways to support our neighbors, and to Galveston County Daily News for being on site today to help share this story.
More to come tomorrow.
If you or someone you know needs help, dial 2-1-1.
