Well … how’s your last 72 hours been?
Because we’ve been busy! Reading so many wonderful notes, getting to talk to so many of you and cry with quite a few of you!
You’ve made our crew feel loved with so many crazy shows of gratitude and you’ve put a smile on my face - yep this is over but PCG mattered in west houston and to so many of you for these past 14 plus years.
So to business, tomorrow is it, come get your fix!
Be nice and patient please and if you get here after maybe 10:30, we will be out of stuff (sour dough bread and rellenos for sure)
We have packaged up a bunch of bulk items and we will be selling them first come first served.
3 bags of shredded Jack and cheddar cheese $10
2 bags of frozen peppered bacon $12
1.5 bags of frozen catfish fillets $5
Quart containers of chili $15
10 packs of cookies $15
Sleeves of styrofoam cups various prices
Unopened condiments - $1-$6
Various canned goods like diced red peppers, diced green chilies, large cans of whole tomatoes, tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes
Bags of elbow macaroni pasta and farfalle pasta
And other stuff I can’t really remember right now.

We open at 7:45am tomorrow give me till 8:30 to have most displayed and if you want anything, you gotta show up and grab it.

Thank you once more for being our friends and family for 14 years!

What an out pouring of wonderful wishes and memories! Thanks to all!
Please - if you want some bags of coffee, casseroles for the freezer, pints of chicken salad, tuna salad, pulled pork, etc - come on by and we will take care of you.
We only have about 50 bags of coffee left, so once it’s gone it’s gone!

Probably will be selling other items like pounds of bacon, quarts of sides, pints of sauces as the weekend progresses.

This is the statement no business owner ever wants to write.

It is time to close our beloved Pecan Creek Grille
Our last day will be this Sunday, June 1st.

Stacey and I opened PCG February 14, 2011 as our answer to having our own breakfast and lunch restaurant, our way, and ensuring we had the afternoons and evening off to raise our son.

Now over 14 years later, it’s just not possible to keep going.
The economic conditions for the last 4-6 years have been tough for most and the restaurant business has been very difficult. The market doesn’t look to become more favorable anytime soon and while we’ve been attempting to negotiate agreeable terms with our landlord, that hasn’t happened so it’s time to say goodbye.
The joy of this business is the people! And those people start with our incredible staff, many who have been with us since day one.
Our staff mean everything to us and all of them will go find something else to do quickly. I vouch for everyone of them and give them ringing endorsements. Our people will find jobs fast and benefit any place smart enough to hire any of them.
So as this Sunday will be our last day of operations - come by before then and say goodbye, reminisce, buy up some of the remaining bagged coffee, granola, and other items we will be pricing to take home.
Many of you have become close friends and I know that will continue.

Please, if you are reading this on social media and you have the urge to disparage us or our restaurant, find it in you to just don’t, just scroll by or say something positive and understand how real this is for me, my wife and our staff - thank you!

So let’s celebrate the great times! The long lines out the door dealt with expertly by Stella and Norma and Paco and Charro. 20 complicated tickets all put out in quick time, hot and fresh by Julio and Miguel and prepped by Martha and Ramon among others!

Stacey and I raised the greatest kid parents could ever want in this place and because of this place. We thank our staff and customers for making our lives better these 14 plus years!

It’s goodbye for now!

Happy Mother’s Day!
Be kind out there, this is the busiest day of the year for most breakfast restaurants.
Great day for it with the good patio weather!
If you choose to dine with us, we’d love that, but we will be insisting that everyone follow our one rule, you don’t get a table until the folks in front of you get a table. If you park kids or anyone at a table to ensure you’ll get one, you’re only slowing it all down for everyone bc if we don’t have tables, we purposely slow the kitchen down, so thanks in advance for trusting us and what we do every weekend!!!

Egg Update!!!!
Good news at least for now.
Our long term relationship with our vendor, Jake’s, benefitted us today! 10 cases of cage free brown eggs in the door at a price where I do not have to institute an egg surcharge!!
It’s coming folks, but this is good news for now.
And please for the commenters saying they can get eggs at x-grocery for $3.99, save it! We got 150 dozen today, so the limit 2 at the store doesn’t exactly help.
And we crack cage free bc they are better eggs.

Eggs - pretty important ingredient for a breakfast restaurant, right?
Well they are already expensive as is almost everything we all buy at the grocery store. They are about to get ridiculously expensive.
We are told that our Monday delivery will almost guaranteed be at $8/dozen. We are currently around $2.80-3.90/dozen.
This isn’t a cost we can afford to absorb, so we will be instituting an egg surcharge.
I don’t know the exact number but I can tell you it will be to cover the additional cost with zero “profit” added to the surcharge.
Likely we will start around $.42-$.60 per egg.
We’ve tried very hard to buy better and be smarter while pricing has exploded these last several years. This one we didn’t see coming. This current egg shortage is bc of bird flu and the massive shortages the bird flu has created in the egg market.
So get in here this weekend for the cheap eggs, but keep supporting us - we need your support now more than ever - support all the local places that make your community better!
Thanks - and if you ever want to ask me a question or comment - text me 713-857-7769 or ask for me at the grille - every day but Friday.

Update - 45 days of this assuming no more outbreaks.

We will do what we can to get in and open by 8:30am today. I just went out and I don’t feel it’s safe to ask my crew to drive right now.
Will update if anything changes.

It will probably be more like 7:05, and I’m the only front person here till at least 8 so if you call and I don’t answer, it’s bc I’m helping someone, but of course we are open!
Picked up 5 of them and one of them drove herself.
Do not let any of that bravado encourage you! Make your own decisions! The streets have snow and in some places starting to ice. I’ve been all the way to westheimer and hillcroft and back to the grille this AM and for me, in a four wheel drive with all season tires, and my first 30 years dealing with this annually, it’s fine.
Everyone be safe!

Justin’s kid Cooper (yes the Cooper so many of you order off the kids menu, and Justin is my brother) is a sophomore at Vermont. Isn’t on the soccer team, has nothing to do with the soccer team, but isn’t it weird how that tangential pride shows up? And also, what a story! “Don’t call them Cinderella, call them national champs!”
Just great!
