A Note from Chef Sunil
When we opened Verandah, our goal was to share the incredible diversity and depth of Indian cuisine with Houston.
But we also know that life gets busy. You may not always have time to sit down for a meal at the restaurant—but that doesn't mean you should have to give up the food you love.
The Weekly Table was created with that thought in mind.
We've taken some of the Indian dishes we love and created chef-crafted meals that you can enjoy throughout your week—at home, at work, or with your family.
It's still Verandah. Just a little closer to home.
We hope you'll give it a try.

A Story We’re Proud to Share.
I’m Chef Sunil, and I want to share something special with you.
Verandah was recently featured in VOYAGE HOUSTON and we’re truly grateful for the opportunity to share our story with Houston.
For us, it’s not simply about being featured. It’s about having the opportunity to tell Houston why we believe Indian cuisine deserves to be explored, understood, and celebrated in all its incredible diversity.
India is not one cuisine. It is thousands of regional kitchens, traditions, ingredients, techniques, and stories—many of which are still waiting to be discovered.
That belief is at the heart of Verandah.
We call it Progressive Indian Cuisine—respecting tradition while exploring new techniques, unexpected ingredients, contemporary presentation, and new ways to experience the food.
Running an independent restaurant isn't always easy, but our passion for sharing India's culinary heritage has never been stronger.
Over the coming weeks and months, we're bringing more of these stories to your table through new dishes, new experiences, and our Forgotten Cuisines of India culinary journey.
If you've been to Verandah before, come back and discover something new.
If you've never visited us, we'd love to welcome you.
Come for the food.
Discover the story.
Experience India.

Why Does a Great Biryani Take Hours?
In a world where everything is expected to be fast, biryani reminds us that some things simply cannot be rushed.
Yes, you can cook rice in 20 minutes.
But an authentic Dum Biryani is built one careful layer at a time.
First, the meat is marinated with yogurt, spices, herbs, and patience. Then fragrant basmati rice is layered with saffron, caramelized onions, fresh mint, and coriander. Finally, the pot is sealed and cooked gently using the centuries-old dum technique, allowing every grain of rice to absorb the aromas and flavors within.
The result isn't just a rice dish—it's a harmony of texture, fragrance, and tradition.
This method has been passed down through generations and perfected in the royal kitchens of Awadh and Hyderabad, where cooking was considered an art and patience was one of its greatest ingredients.
At Verandah, we continue to honor that tradition because we believe extraordinary food is never rushed.
Good food teaches patience. Great food rewards it.
🍽️ Join us and experience the timeless art of authentic Dum Biryani.
