Repeat customers and community are everything to Giannina. “Nextdoor is one of the reasons we remained in business! The community helped spread the news of our business, especially through times like COVID, and a severe freeze when the streets got iced over; I attempted to still drive to the pizzeria and opened for business. We were the only restaurant open on a major street. We fed as many as we could for two days when people did not have electricity for a week.”  
 
Both of Giannina’s parents are Sicilian chefs who still work full time today and while they are proud of her, she is also incredibly proud of them. “I learned from my parents to never give up and do what it takes to stay in business. They are both hard working immigrants and are thankful for their American dream. They worked 7 days a week for years and years to keep the business going. I know because I lived it with them. We have helped each other up until today. My father, who is 83 years old, still helps me with my catering business. It is amazing how long and how strong we have kept the legacy going. I am so very proud to carry it on to today.”

All of Giannina’s experiences have taught her to persevere. “Women thrive under severe pressure is what I have learned. This industry has finally changed and respect women in this industry. Women work just as hard. Although my life experience working with two chefs was not easy, I learned not only cooking but life lessons. According to them, it does not matter if you are a woman or man - Just keep going... Take responsibility and do your best.” For others out there, her advice is the same as her learnings. “Talk everything out. Analyze. Research. Don’t jump into anything. Always look at the actions/consequences. Ask for professional help and stay professional. Don’t prove anything to anyone. Don’t take NO for an answer. Persevere and most importantly Trust in God to take you places for your purposes.” 
 
 
When it comes to the future, Giannina hopes to continue serving her community. “We hope to keep thriving in serving our customers and community while making new memories for all of them. It’s about the social time we spend together while eating good food. I was serving a wedding and once it was time for us to leave, I went towards the dance floor to wave to the bride to say goodbye and she came and grabbed me to dance! It was wild - the family had me dancing with them! There was another wedding and the mother of the bride wanted a “Pizza Show” before dinner... so my father and I flew pizza dough to each other after the ceremony! They had a blast! We flew the dough to two guests, and they flew it back to us - just wild!”

When her father was fighting for his life during Covid, Giannina stepped in to run both businesses. “I became more compassionate and thankful for the help we received to keep going. My Mother and Brother worked double time and friends as well came to help. It was one of the most challenging times of my life. I would run the restaurant, catering and run to the hospital while my father was in ICU (he was intubated twice) and I prayed over him in 3 languages (Sicilian, Italian and English). I know he heard me as he reacted when I spoke. He survived! He is a Walking Miracle!” 
Despite the obstacles they’ve faced, Giannina and her family have never slowed down. “We kept going because of the food! It is about the quality, taste and service. The customers know us and have trusted our products. We have developed a reputation. It is a major subject for me to continue this legacy of consistency with presentation, quality and service is very important. When a customer sees our Mobile Pizza set up, they are excited to see something they have never seen before. A major part of the business is the referrals from each event. Once they see us in action, we receive more future business. A customer called me and told me to book an event for her anniversary party. She expressed how much fun they had for her daughter’s birthday 10 years ago!”
