Kitchen 713 was a unique and unpretentious Southern American restaurant located in Houston's Second Ward. The co-chef-owners James Haywood and Ross Coleman created what they called Global Soul cuisine, blending southern roots with international seasoning and flavors. Their signature dishes, including Shrimp and Grits, Black Vinegar Braised Oxtail, Crispy Okra, and Thai Fried Chicken were all favorites among locals. Originally a counter-service only establishment, Kitchen 713 moved to 4601 Washington Avenue in December 2016 for more space and the addition of a cocktail menu. Unfortunately, Kitchen 713 has been permanently closed.
