It’s with heavy hearts that we must sadly announce we are closing Herb & Beet’s doors and will be shutting down the restaurant on Saturday 12/10/22.

Unfortunately, the ongoing pandemic and economic recession brought on a mountain of operational and financial hurdles that are simply too much to overcome. You name it and we likely battled it - forced government shutdowns, dining occupancy restrictions, to mask or not to mask?, staff Covid outbreaks, extreme labor shortages, avian flu, endless supply chain issues, historic inflation, etc.

Never once did we let that break our stride or hold us down, we just kept on moving. The best part of the hospitality industry is it requires you to step out of your comfort zone to ensure guest satisfaction always remains a top priority.

We’ve prided ourselves on providing a fun, rewarding workplace in which our staff could hone their skill sets, learn new positions, practice new languages (hablo ingles?, hablo espanol?), and grow together as valuable teammates. Yet another highlight of kitchen life - teamwork is an absolute necessity…and the proof is in the (bread) pudding!

Our goal in creating Herb & Beet was to prove that delicious, healthy food doesn’t need be overly complicated, unaffordable, or difficult to find. We always tried to be exceedingly inviting to our guests and show our overall appreciation for their willingness to try a new family-owned restaurant that might be out of their regular dining comfort zone. Our menu was created to be a healthy alternative to our region’s comfort foods, offering some of the most delicious brisket and smoked meats in the area, while also pushing the envelope in vegetarian BBQ. Our dining room was designed to be warm and inviting and open to people of all backgrounds & walks of life.

We are going to miss wowing people with those unknown facts, we are going to miss being a source of tasty vegetarian options, we are going to miss assisting guests with their new dieting trends, we are going to miss convincing people our vegan chocolate chip cookies are actually vegan, we are going to miss smoking meats and tossing salads, and most importantly we are going to miss the overall positive culture we have created.

Sure, we made mistakes (lots of them), but who doesn’t? If you were judged by your worst day, then who would any of us really be?

This experience has been an amazing ride and we are forever grateful for all the loyal guests who dined with us over the years. We are equally grateful for our amazing roster of current (and former) employees and will always cherish the memories we made together. Y’all were the engine that made this place run, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

Thank you for welcoming us into the community. Thank you for supporting local. Thank you for allowing us to pursue our dreams, even if we ultimately came up short. We invite you all to support our staff and enjoy the last few days of our services while we continue to do what we love most – providing our guests with a memorable dining experience. We will sincerely miss being one of the few independently created, owned, and operated establishments in the area and hope to see you all again soon on our next adventure.
