Sometimes I think about those years, I had so much anxiety knowing my son was in harms way fighting for our freedoms, my son, my Marine, Darkhorse 3/5 soldier, fighting in Sagin and Helmond on the front lines. I also think of his unit and the losses they endured, most running deeper than what any of them dare admit, thinking it would make them look weak. Sometimes I feel my son didn't come home from that war, not completely, but a lot of them didn't...and in a lot of ways our government has failed them, I didn't have the honor of meeting all of his unit, I sent them boxes continuously, and if you have a son/daughter who serves you understand how hard it was to get a call to take a name off the list even though it was not yours, it was still heartbreaking just the same. But, even after it all and they come home, you can't help but worry about each one of them, and then you get a call and find out one of them gained his wings, you're there all over again...Sgt. Matthew Zeimys, thank you sir for your service, your sacrifice (purple heart recipient and Bronze Star), your strength, and our freedom you fought for, I pray peace has found you, and I pray for your family that they find peace too, too soon, too young Semper Fi!
