Leon's Lounge is a historic bar located on Mcgowen Street in Houston that has been serving the community for over 70 years. As Houston's oldest bar, Leon's Lounge has a rich history that can be felt within its walls. The current owner, Scarlett Yarborough, daughter of the founder Leon, is dedicated to preserving the legacy of her father by supporting live music as its main interest and booking new entertainment while serving legacy libations.
The bar has recently undergone renovations to take it back to the best version of Leon's, the era when Leon would have been operating it. The new-old Leon's will be booking great live music entertainment and serving great cocktails for your listening entertainment and when you are just dropping in during happy hour. Yarborough has built her bar around conversation and expects it to dovetail nicely with the rest of the bars in the Midtown bar scene.
Leon's Lounge offers a wide selection of drinks, including local craft beers and various whiskies from around the country. Yarborough believes that people want good drinks and attention to detail, which is why she puts so much effort into crafting each drink.
One of Yarborough's favorite memories of the bar includes her father performing bar tricks and making random bets with patrons. This shows that Leon's Lounge is not just a place to grab a drink but also a place where memories are made.
Overall, if you're looking for a historic bar with great drinks and live music entertainment, then Leon's Lounge is definitely worth checking out.
