It is with sorrow and gratitude that we announce the passing of our beloved Jason D. Wyche. Without his vision, passion, friendship, and belief in me, Gumbo Xpress may have never existed. Jason was not simply the co-owner of Gumbo Xpress; he was my husband, a dedicated father to our two beautiful daughters, and my best friend. The faith he put in God poured over into his faith in our family as well as his relationships with others. If you’ve ever shaken his hand or held a conversation with him, you know that he led with his whole heart. While we take this time to mourn, celebrate, and heal from such a tremendous loss, we ask that you send love and light, and keep us in your prayers. The space left by Jason cannot be filled by another, so let’s fill it with memories and laughter. Let us not forget that Jason was and will always be a beacon, pushing us to reach higher, stretching us beyond what we see in the mirror, and reminding us to stay close to God. He will be missed, every single day. Jason, thank you for inspiring me and loving me. I will miss your infectious smile. We will hang on to every memory we’ve shared together. Gumbo Xpress Family, we will be back and look forward to serving you again…soon.
