Review: A Good Read.
The Audrey off Post Oak is absolutely beautiful! Think Breakfast at Tiffany’s vibes, pretty pinks, teal blues, and gorgeous details throughout. It’s a small restaurant, but it certainly makes an impression. Our brunch experience, however, had a few hiccups.
We made two reservations for 16 people, with 14 ultimately attending. Before our visit, I called to ask whether our tables could be reasonably close to one another. I understood that seating couldn’t be guaranteed, but the conversation felt more focused on directing us toward a private room with a deposit and minimum spend, which isn’t how we typically organize our brunch outings.
When I arrived, I checked in for both reservations. One table was seated, but while we waited for the rest of our group to be seated, our second table was given to someone else. When we asked about it, the staff seemed unaware that we had two reservations, even though I had checked in for both. After some scrambling, another table became available, and we ended up beside each other anyway. Our reservations were for 12:30, but everyone wasn’t seated until around 1:15.
Our waiter was wonderful his name was CJ! He did an incredible job with the group! He was friendly, attentive, and did his best throughout the visit. Our drinks came out quickly, but the food took more than 30 minutes after ordering. We’re accustomed to some extra waiting with a large group, but this felt long, especially after the seating delay. Managers eventually helped bring out the plates, and unfortunately, some food still arrived cold.
As for the food, there were some good moments. The short rib was tender, and the Parmesan grits were creamy and flavorful. I ordered the Breakfast at Tiffany’s: the chicken sage sausage could have used more flavor, but I enjoyed the sweet, glazed bacon, eggs, and toasty potatoes with a little spice. The lavender pancakes were a highlight for me because you could actually taste the lavender!
The bread rolls were good, although I expected them to arrive hotter. We also tried the cute three-tier tray with little sandwiches, deviled eggs, croissants, and sweets. The presentation was lovely, but the sandwich bread tasted stale, which took away from it.
Overall, the food was decent, with a few standout items. Some of the ladies really enjoyed their meals, but the long wait and temperature issues dampened the excitement for our group.
My two cents: 8/10. The beautiful décor and welcoming staff were the highlights. I’d say try it for yourself, especially if you love a pretty brunch setting. For me, the food didn’t quite deliver the same wow factor as the atmosphere, and I’d love to see smoother coordination for group reservations.
